A picture I took from Hyderabad on 1st Dec 2008. It was quite late when I managed to get my hands on one of my colleague’s regular hand held Fujifilm Finepix camera which is a 6.3 Megapixel camera. Unfortunately I got the right settings for a picture like this very late and by that time the three objects had reached very close to the horizon.
Moon of course can be easily identified and of the two objects above the Moon, the brighter one on the left is Venus and the fainter one to the right is Jupiter.

Nikhil,
I wonder about the pictures by you.
Firstly I wonder why the planets appear to be trailed but not the moon by same amount. At the same time when we see the stars in the second picture they appear to be ‘dots’.
Secondly both the pictures seems to be identical (this shows up when enlarged.

Thanks George
And Arvind the two images I have put up are the same. The one on top is raw while the second one is cropped and histogram corrected.
The trail that you see is because my hand shook 😛
Moon also shows this blurring but is less prominent because of its size.
